  • On Tuesday, July 29, Henry went to his very first Cubs game at Miller Park.  This was the annual trip up to "Wrigley North" with the Zion Fire Department.  We tailgate for a few hours before the game.  Needless to say, Henry had a blast.  It was very warm, but not too bad.  We were up high enough in the stadium that we had a nice breeze most of the time.  And the best news of all - CUBS WIN!

Henry sportin' his new Cubs gear and having dinner with Maddie.  He loved hanging out with her and often called to her "Hey kid!"  Maddie was nice enough to break off a piece of her long licorice rope later during the game to share with Henry.

Daddy and Henry...I have a feeling we'll have many more pictures like this over the years...hopefully back at Wrigley too!

  • Baby Progress

Today I had my follow-up ultrasound.  I am now 25 weeks.  The baby is doing great.  The heart beat was 144 and the baby weighs 1 lb. 12 oz. right now.  I didn't ask about that last time, so I have nothing to compare it to.  Right now the baby is breech, "standing" at somewhat of an angle with the head on my left side.  It's so fun to see, so I thought I'd share.  I've labeled some of the body parts.

  • Today we had an ultrasound of Baby Stried.  I'll be 21 weeks tomorrow.  Everything looked good, but the baby was pretty curled up so we'll be going for another one in 4 weeks so they can get a better look at things.  We are not finding out the gender.  This picture looks exactly like Henry's ultrasound, but Henry's head was on the left.

Just like hearing the heartbeat, seeing the ultrasound never gets old for me.  The moment I saw the baby, the tears came.  What a gift it is to be a woman and have this little person housed inside my body.  It's just so cool!  And the heart rate was 144.  It has been 166 and 153 in the past, but that was with the doctor counting.  So, I tend to trust this machine a little more.  That's for all of you trying to guess the gender based on the heart rate.  I'm not placing any bets.

  • Trading Spaces Part 4

This project is going to take some time, but today we got our new table.  We're not supposed to put a whole lot on the floor for another week or so, but I think it's fine.  We also brought in my flea market find...an antique green cabinet that amazingly matches the green in the coushins of the chairs.  I LOVE the look so far and can't wait to switch the lighting and get decorating.  How fun is this!

This is the table we inherited when we first got married.  It has been a great table, but I've been ready for something new for a while.  We had it pushed against the wall to make room for our love seat (you can see part of it in the picture).  Our computer desk will go against the wall where the table is.  We're waiting to do that because we'll have to run cable into that room.

    Now we'll be eating here!

The cabinet is so much better in person.  I just love it!  It is a true antique (according to the dealer) dating back to the 1800's.  Of course it's been painted and finished to give it the worn look.

Looking back to the picture of the playroom, the change is already amazing

  • Trading Spaces Part 3

The floor is coming along and the project should be officially done on Friday.  We are looking forward to moving back in and getting back to normal.  We have one more coat of polyurethene today and baseshoe today or tomorrow.

I am excited to put the whole room together, although we need to wait about a week to put anything on the floor....it's worth the wait.  More to come!
